This article explains how cancellations and refunds are handled for SMWS services. Please review your service terms carefully before requesting cancellation.
How to request cancellation
-
Log in to your SMWS client area.
-
Go to the service you want to cancel.
-
Open the cancellation request option, if available.
-
Choose the type of cancellation requested.
-
Submit the request.
-
Wait for confirmation that your request was received.
Types of cancellation
Depending on the service, you may be able to request:
Immediate cancellation
Your service is canceled as soon as the request is processed.
End of billing period cancellation
Your service stays active until the end of the current paid term and then cancels.
Important things to know
Before requesting cancellation, keep in mind:
-
Canceling a hosting service does not always cancel a domain
-
Canceling a service may stop website, email, and hosting-related access
-
You are responsible for backing up any needed files or data before cancellation
-
Unpaid invoices may still remain due unless otherwise stated
Refunds
Refund eligibility depends on the service purchased and the terms attached to that service. Some services may be refundable, while others may be non-refundable once activated, delivered, renewed, or used.
Services that often have special refund limitations may include:
-
Domain registrations
-
Domain transfers
-
Renewals
-
Setup work
-
Custom service work
-
Completed website or rescue work
Before submitting a cancellation request
Review:
-
Whether you still need backups of your website or email
-
Whether your domain is tied to the service
-
Whether the service is set to renew soon
-
Whether the service has already been renewed or fully delivered
Notes
Submitting a cancellation request is the correct way to stop service. Simply not using a service does not always cancel billing automatically.
